Baltimore Federal Hillians are a varied, eclectic group.
At Felici Cafe we loves all our, youngers, orders, joggers, yogies and doggies and our love is expressed through our food. We use the freshest healthiest ingredients, because we know you are conscious of your health and we want to help you be so too!!
Our Insalata Superiore which means “super salad” was presented to me by a couple of our very valued customers. This salad started of as being a temporary addition but has been so long on our menu it’s definitely going to be permanent.
And it has to be since the recipe was given to me by a super couple my faithful and dear customers Skip and Barbara Russell.
Everyone who have tried it will admit that it truly is a super salad. With a base of Super foods like spinach, kale and quinoa dressed in a light lemon juice and olive oil dressing, how could it not be?
Skip and Barb thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, and for being a part of the Felici family.
We are “Felici” (happy) over quinoa.
Quinoa was cultivated over 5000 years ago and was considered the mothers of all grains by the incas. Considered a complete protein it is naturally gluten free, low in carbohydrates and contains iron, B-vitamins, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, vitamin E and fiber.

I love smoothies all year round but of all the seasons I view summer as smoothie time. Blending fruits and vegetables not only makes a delicious combination but offers tremendous health benefits. Fruits and vegetables offer maximum advantages but eating then in large amounts can be difficult and time consuming. Mexican Marvel

On a recent trip to Mexico for one of my best friends wedding I had the opportunity to visit one of the new seven wonders of the world, the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza.

This had always been a dream of mine and I felt very strongly that I would not visit Egypt without seeing the Great Pyramids or visit China and not the Great Wall. With that in mind we gave up a much valued beach day to visit these amazing ruins.

I feel compelled to share some of what I learnt that day. The long trip to Chichen Itza was certainly worth it. We marveled at how exceptional The Mayans were at building,
astronomy and architecture. One if the most important buildings to them was the Observatory with windows arranged to track the alignment of the sun, moon and Venus. This would help tell when was the correct cycles to plant and harvest crops.

Coincidence, planned or perhaps built by aliens the pyramid has 91 steps on 4 sides = 364 +1 up top to = 365 as in the number of days in the Gregorian calendar. Chichen Itza is the  2nd most visited ruin in Mexico especially known for practicing human sacrifice to the god Kulkulkan.

Mayans are known for many inventions one of them is the ball they played a ball-game with 7 players on each team and with a ball that weighed almost 8 lbs. You wouldn’t want to be a winner there though, winners were the ones that got sacrificed!!

Moving on to my favorite sport which is food-ing and eating lies another invention that made me wish I was alive in 500 A. D. This was a dish that paired two of my favorite items to eat, one is chocolate, the other habanero peppers, resulting in spicy chocolate wow!!
At lunch we enjoyed lots of authentic Mayan dishes one in particular was  Lime-Chicken soup,  it was very delicious and refreshing. This is one that will be appearing at Felici Cafe soon!!

Love of the South

XFINITY Connect

On a recent visit to Charleston earlier this year I feel inspired to bring some flavors of the south in to Felici Cafe. Charleston is full of charm with a myriad of things to do and see. Including shopping, siteseeing and my personal favorite eating.
There are so many great restaurants it is definitely a foodie destination, and in more ways i do consider myself a  foodie.
I enjoy taking traditional dishes, putting my on spin or how I think of it my own charm into it and producing a dish full of flavor as well as healthy as possible… after all at Felici Cafe Healthy+Delicious=HAPPY!!
Stop in Felici cafe and try my new Hoppin John soup and feel like you’re in the south. I am serving it up a lil healthier with kale and over brown rice.
